Pre- Christmas

Decorating the tree with dad. I was very nervous about putting up the tree, but Colin and Savannah have left it alone!
Colin and his 2nd cousins at a baby shower for Colette. The other moms thought they should get cupcakes and I caved. Colin just licked the frosting and said, "mmmmm"!

Colin's first fort!

The family has been down with the flu this week. Colin had it for the first time on Monday, then Matt got it and then I had the weakest version on Thursday. Luckily it seems to pass quickly and we got it out of our system before Christmas.

Thanksgiving Weekend

Colin enjoyed Thanksgiving - tasting the turkey leg!
Colin and Matt at St John's

Colin decided that the crayon tasted better than the lemon! He does like lemons though

We went to Minnesota for Thanksgiving. Colin was very busy and had so much fun with his grandparents and Aunt Melissa. We went to St. John's while we were there for Colin's first college visit. We had a great time.

Morning at Home

This morning Colin and I stayed home and hung out. He is getting some new teeth and trying to get over a cold but he was still in a great mood. Here is what our morning consisted of.

Colin rocked Curious George while watching ELMO~
Colin helped me vacuum. Mainly he would hold the cord so I couldn't go any farther and laugh. In this picture he is turning it on, I wish I could have taken a picture 2 seconds later when he jumped against the wall because it scared him.

Savannah was peacefully sleeping on her rug when Colin came in with his airplane spinning in her face. She didn't stay there for very long.

Being Adorable - then off to bed.

Weekend Activities

Matt and I went to the Husker game on Saturday. They sure are fun and always amazing to see the die hard fans there. On Sunday Colin and I went to visit the newest members of the Hughes family. My brother Mark's dogs had puppies - 10 pure bread labs if anyone is interested in a puppy for a Christmas gift.

Enjoy the pics!

Gorilla Reminder

I just love this photo...How things have changed

Gorilla Update

Yesterday Colin and I could not stay inside when it was 73 degrees outside, so we made a trip to the zoo. Our route at the zoo usually includes the tigers, the bears, the gorilla house and the aquarium. We started at the tigers and Colin growled at them he also growled at the bears. As we ventured into the Gorilla house I was excited to see his reaction. The gorillas are always SO entertaining. We were walking in and there was no one around besides a gorilla right at the glass. I put Colin's stroller right in front of it....needless to say not a good idea. Colin started crying and that was it for the Gorilla house, well at least he recognizes them now. The big excitement was the aquarium. He loved running through there and saying fish. The penguins were the best. Stay tuned for our zoo inspired Halloween Costume!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Arbor Day Lodge

This weekend the whole Hughes gang headed to Nebraska City to the Lied Lodge. The kids have so much fun. This year on Saturday we made our way to the pumpkin patch where Colin liked sitting on the pumpkins. We also went into their Apple store (no computers here) and Colin tried to take a bite out of every apple. We didn't stay in there for very long! Saturday night all of the kids and dad's went swimming. The game of chicken was played all night and Colin loved the pool. He cried when we would take him out. Matt decided he had to get out when his lips were a dark shade of purple. He had a lot of fun though. I thought for sure he would sleep all night after that long day...at 4:30 he woke up and said "done"! The Steele family was a little sluggish on Sunday.

Matt's Family Visit

The new Omaha Pedestrian bridge!
Matt's parents and sister came to visit this past weekend. I didn't have my camera out this weekend so I am borrowing Grandma Steele's photos that she took. It was so good to see Matt's family and Colin always has so much fun with them. He was looking all over for them once they left. We will see them again as we head North for Thanksgiving.

Colin....Where are you?

Thursday morning Colin was being very quiet, so I went to look for him and sure enough he was in our bathroom. He has a small infatuation with all sorts of paper!

Just Some Cute Photos

This is what happens when I get the camera out and do not give it to him!
Such a big guy! On his way to Bass Pro with his Dad and his favorite Camo hat!

Getting to lick the brownie spatula

Relaxing as the sun goes down.

Not much new happening around the Steele's. I am sorry it has been so long since we have updated the blog. Colin is so busy these days and when I get the camera out he thinks he should hold it, so it is much harder to take a photo of him. This weekend we received a good taste of parenthood. It was my 10 year reunion and we were also supposed to go out of town for a wedding. Friday Colin came down with a 102 temp and pretty much canceled most of our weekend plans. It is much more comforting to be with him then be some where else and worry. He is doing much better now and we believe it was from his first molar coming in. We hope all is well with everyone and you are enjoying the start of fall.

Steele Expo

The second annual Steele Sportsman Expo was again successful. The guys certainly enjoyed the events and the nice weather. The girls enjoyed eating, chatting and staying out of the rain. We had a few new competitors this year, people are starting to hear about this great event. Andy Martin was the champion this year.

Many of the nieces and nephews made it to the party too. Above Abby and Lauren are playing with Nalo the kitty (note the name change, it is now a boy) Below Emma is helping Colin with a toy.

This morning I realized that all of the hallway doors need to be shut. Prior to today I would leave Colin's room open so he could go play in there. Well, he was found today in the trash can and then hiding in his closet. He really likes hiding in closets even if there is no light....for about 30 seconds.

If you can't read his lips he is saying BOO....surprise - surprise!

Girls Weekend

This morning I was cleaning up the kitchen, Colin went in to the pantry to get out the broom to lend a hand.

This weekend I met two of my college roommates in Kansas City for a girls weekend. It had been over a year since we had been together. Stacy came by train from St. Louis and Hadley flew in from Houston. We had a lot of fun but I certainly missed my boys while I was gone. When I got home on Sunday Colin was acting a little fussy, that turned into a cold and then Matt came down with the flu - proving they can't live with out me!
(For those of you coming to the Expo I will disinfect the house, no worries!)

30th Birthday

It has been a long time since we have updated the blog. Matt turned 30 this past weekend and the weekend prior we went to Minnesota to celebrate his 30th birthday with a couple of his college friends who were also celebrating birthdays. On Matt's real birthday he spent most of the day working outside. Colin and I tried to help, but it ended with Colin playing in the hose. Enjoy the new photos!
