Poison Control

Yesterday Colin gave me quite the scare! I walked into the bathroom and as he was brushing his teeth (just an excuse for him to play in the sink). I looked down and the entire bottle of my face toner was empty and he had been drinking it. I read the bottle to see that it contained a high dose of alcohol. So I called poison control and they recommended a trip to the ER. Matt is in Maine for work for 2 weeks, so I called my mom and 30 minutes later we were in the Children's Hospital ER. On the drive up there he was acting just fine. The Dr required a blood test to check the alcohol level in Colin's system. Not just a prick to the finger or to the heal...this was a butterfly needle to the arm for 5 ml of blood. It took mom and I and 4 nurses to hold him down. It was awful. The first attempt on the right arm they blew the vein. So I was not very excited about that nurse of course! After they finally got the blood drawn, Colin was able to relax a little and took a 30 minute nap as we waited for the results. The results were good and showed a low level of alcohol in his system so we were able to go home. We were all REALLY tired and Colin described it as a 'Long Day' - he had obviously been listening to me talk to his dad!

A Trip to the Zoo

I know I have resorted to this picture many times, but it just seems to be so funny. We went to the zoo today because it was so nice here - nice breeze and not too hot. Colin was really excited on the way there, we sang "Going to the zoo zoo zoo" all the way there. Our first stop is always the monkeys because we can take an elevator and not have to fight the hills at the zoo =) I of course wanted to see his reaction to the gorillas. The first picture below is of Colin at the zoo when he was only 4 months old with the gorilla, not even realizing that he was there. Today, Colin wouldn't even get close to the glass and was ready to leave once the gorilla slammed on the glass, understood. My kid was the only one who cried multiple times at the zoo, first at the gorillas, then at the train (because it was too loud) then in the butterfly exhibit because the little fish in the ponds weren't big enough! All and all it was a fun day, but I realized today that Colin just likes the aquarium at the zoo and I could save myself money and time by just letting Matt take him to Bass Pro to get his fish fix!

Summer Fun

At Great Uncle Steve's Birthday Party!
3 cousins - each 3 months a part, Joseph, Wade and Colin

Colette, Adeline and Grandma Jody

Great Grandma Hughes and Colin. Grandma Catherine enjoyed watching Colin all night - he even got Grandma to 'bump it'.

Mom and I went to visit Great Grandma Morrison on the 4th of July. Colin was a trooper on the way to Corning and back.

Colin is now in his big boy bed. We got in on July 1st and Matt had him sleeping in it by July 2 (YES SIR). He doesn't get out of it unless we ask him to, we are very lucky. He is still a great sleeper and we are very proud of him. As Colin is now 2 he has many new accomplishments, including putting together sentences and bossing around mom and dad! Colin is now in the blue room and Matt has moved his office to the basement. Matt received a promotion with Idexx and is now a sales trainer. He will be traveling all over the country and possibly the world training people on the job he used to have. WAY TO GO MATT!

Ozarks

Matt and I went to the Ozarks with Colby and Annie Esterling at the end of June. We had a great time - one of the highlights was the helicopter ride over the lake.
